Working under the line management of the Learning Manager and under the supervision of the class teacher you will assist young people to overcome barriers to learning and help them to realise their potential. 

You will also be required to fulfil the roll of cover supervisor in the short term absence of a teacher.  Candidates should have experience of working with and meeting the needs of difficult children. Experience of working in a residential establishment would be advantageous, as would a knowledge of National Curriculum.

The role consists of:

opening and securing buildings
some cleaning

general day to day duties at the request of Headteacher/Site Manager, within Health & Safety regulations. 

Applicants must have the ability to prioritise their work and have good communication skills.  The successful candidate will be required to communicate with headteachers, site managers, caretakers, cleaners and on some occasions the general public.

You must have the ability to work on own initiative and also in a team environment. 

You will be expected to complete basic paperwork ie timesheets, stock control forms, Health & Safety inspection sheets, work request forms. 

Qualifications in Building Cleaning are desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will however be expected to undertake the relevant qualifications. 

Flexibility is required to cover absences of cleaning and school crossing patrol staff.

Holidays must be taken during the school holiday periods.

You must have a current full driving licence and own a car, for which mileage at appropriate rop will be paid.  If an applicant can not drive as they are precluded by disability applications are still welcome.

Principle duties will be responding to calls for assistance to people in their own homes, for example, following a fall, and providing the necessary practical assistance to resolve the problem, which will require client handling skills, as well as the ability to assess issues as they are presented. The Intelligence and Outcomes Unit is a newly created unit that has been established to strengthen the current quality assurance processes and procedures and put the Adult Social Care & Health department in a strong position in readiness for meeting the personalisation agenda.

You will have a commitment to ensuring quality services are provided for all service users with a forthright ability to identify and address areas identified for improvement.  You will have experience of undertaking quality assurance and monitoring activities in a social care or supported housing environment.

Ideally applicants will possess a minimum of an NVQ level 3 in Social Care or a related social care contracting/monitoring field although this is not essential.

Candidates must be self motivated and able to fulfill the flexible working arrangements including weekend work as part of a rota.
