The Grove is a children’s home, which offers care for young people aged between 12 and 17 years. The purpose of the home is to provide and deliver the highest quality care possible for the children we care for.
We are seeking a Deputy Manager for the service, to work within a committed, existing & established staff team and to assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the home as well as deputising in the manager’s absence.
We require someone who has a proven track record of working positively with parents, young people and other agencies, as well as supporting and developing a staff team. As part of the role you will need to supervise staff members, monitor performance and finances, dealing with staffing issues, attending meetings/reviews, manage H & S matters effectively, up dating policies and procedures, implement strategies to enable staff members to manage extreme challenging and complex needs of the young people we care for, manage attendance at work, completion of Reg 45 reports and many other additional administrative duties.
The successful candidate will have to process a variety of skills including effective communication techniques and a very positive commitment to improving opportunities and life experiences for young people. You will need a clear understanding of child development, knowledge of childcare delivery in a residential setting. Knowledge or experience of Ofsted and Reg 44 Inspections in children’s homes are essential to the post.
You will be required to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and sleep in duties.
The post requires you have at least level 3 Diploma/NVQ in caring for children and young people. The role will demand the need for the successful candidate to have or currently be undertaking an NVQ level 5 Diploma in Management & Leadership. The candidate must have at least two years experience in a residential setting.
