Description...

2 year fixed term contract

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) have awarded the Liverpool City Region 2.1million as part of the Homelessness Prevention Trailblazer programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably motivated and skilled individual to join St Helens Council and work as part of a small team to fundamentally reform the response to homelessness.

This is a new post funded and co-ordinated by the Homelessness Strategy Team at the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as part of a city-region homelessness trailblazer programme. Prevention and early intervention will be at the heart of this approach to reduce the number of people who face a homelessness crisis in the first place.

You will work proactively with people at risk of homelessness in a way that successfully meets their needs; to provide effective case support to clients to either prevent homelessness, improve their housing situation, or to access and sustain a range of housing options. You will support, and signpost clients to address their wide support needs to enable them to maintain tenancies or prevent homelessness from occurring.

Additionally, you will manage the team and be central to identifying, forging, and nurturing partnerships with local organisations to develop referral and support pathways, both within St Helens Council and across the Liverpool City Region. Sharing best practice, joint problem solving and collaborative working will be essential.

You will need to show a drive and commitment to preventing homelessness, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders. A willingness to learn, adapt and lead change will also be required.

A relevant housing or support qualification is desirable but not essential.

For an informal discussion, please contact Kevin Cairns, Homelessness Strategy Officer, on (01744)676962 or Lee Norman, Service Manager Housing & Safer Communities on (01744) 676230.
