St Helens Council currently have 2 vacancies for Craftsman Arborists to work with our established tree maintenance team. St Helens Council maintains and manages all of its tree stock throughout the borough on Council owned land, the maintenance of the trees is essential for health and safety and to promote the health of the trees.
The successful candidate for the Craftsman Arborist role will be required to undertake a wide range of arboricultural tasks including crown reductions, crown thinning, dead wooding, crown lifting, felling and dismantling around the Borough helping to achieve our key objective which is to maintain and enhance the Council tree stocks
You will be required to ensure vehicles, plant and equipment are maintained correctly in order to ensure the council’s standards are achieved and maintained at all times. You should hold the relevant NPTC CS units, have experience working within arboriculture or a similar environment and enjoy working as part of a team.
We require an individual with sound knowledge, experience and qualifications in all elements of arboricultural operations and machinery operation. Candidates should be competent in carrying out maintenance machinery checks and hold a full UK driving licence with a B entitlement.
The hours of work in the summer season (April to September) will be 42 per week - 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 4.00pm Friday, you will be paid monthly for 37 hours per week and the extra 5 hours per week will be accrued which is to be taken as leave in the winter months .The hours of work in the winter season (March and October) are 37 per week – 7.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3.00pm on Friday.
