The Youth Offending Service is seeking to increase the number of sessional support staff who can work creatively with children, young people and their families. The hours of work will vary from month to month on a needs led basis. There will be two hours minimum per four week period. A sessional worker rota is planned in advance on a monthly basis in addition to some additional work requests made at very short notice.

Tasks will include:

Attending training, group 1-1 staff supervision sessions.
Delivering interventions in both a group and individual setting with children and young people.
Transporting children, young people and/or families to appointments/activities.
Supervision of and supporting young people undertaking community reparation activites
Supervision of and supporting young people who attend the Attendance Centre
Undertaking home visits to offer support to young people and their families.

St Helens Youth Offending Service offers a positive, dynamic and friendly working environment with a staff team who are enthusiastic, motivated and commited to preventing and reducing re-offending by children and young people in St Helens.

Successful applicants will become part of a multi-agency service delivering comprehensive youth justice and preventative services accross the St Helens area.

You must be enthusiastic and have some recent experience of working with children, young people and families in a statutory or voluntary setting. You must also have experience of managing challenging behaviours.

This post will require evening, weekend and bank holiday working, as the majority of the sessional work will be required at these periods.

There will be a comprehensive induction, ongoing training and supervision provided.
