We are dealing with an exciting range of planning challenges, balancing needs for major new development linked to the Council’s growth agenda against the protection of the Borough’s greenspaces and other environmental assets. At present we are at a crucial time in the development of our Local Plan.
We are looking for a Planning Assistant – Policy who will help us over an 24 month period. You will - working in partnership with others – help to draft and implement policies and support the Local Plan through its examination in public. You will also have extensive contact with customers, assess feedback on the Plan from consultees and support other team members in this busy period.
You must have knowledge of current planning legislation, guidance and procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to negotiate, analyse, interpret and make judgements. You will be able to work independently to tight deadlines and be an effective team player with proficient IT skills. Ideally, you will also have experience of working in a town planning team and a recognised planning or similar qualification.
This maybe an ideal opportunity for a Graduate, however you are not required to have a degree
