We are looking to recruit a Street Works Inspector to work within the Highway Maintenance Section of the Engineering Division of St Helens Council based at Wesley House.
Applicants should be experienced in the monitoring of statutory undertakers working on the public highways on gas, electricity, water, telecoms and other utility services. They should be experienced in undertaking inspections of street works, attending site meetings, agreeing permit conditions, monitoring Section 50 licences, as well as the monitoring of skip and scaffolding permit holders.
The post holder will also be required to investigate and resolve customer enquiries, undertake highway safety inspections in accordance with the Well-managed highway infrastructure code of practice, order identified repair works via hand held tablet devices, and provide general assistance to the Highways Maintenance Manager and Supervisor.
Ideally applicants should possess a knowledge of highways materials and construction, highway and street works legislation and have gained experience in a highways maintenance environment.
A relevant qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent) in ‘Safety Inspections of the Highway would be desirable and should be NRSWA 1991 accredited.
