St Helens Council is looking to recruit a Rehabilitation Officer-Visual Impairment, to provide professional, responsive and person centred rehabilitation support for people who are experiencing the impact and challenges resulting from sight loss.

The successful candidate will be fully qualified and possess a Diploma of Higher Education in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment) or equivalent. In this role you will be expected to undertake the full range of specialist rehabilitation and support provision. This will include the completion of statutory needs led assessments and the provision of outcome focused training and support in orientation and mobility, communication, low vision, risk management and the development and maintenance of independent living skills.

You will have excellent communication skills, experience of IT systems and the ability to deal with complex and sensitive issues, manage caseloads and prioritise competing demands.

In return you will work in a supportive team, receive regular supervision and be encouraged to develop your professional expertise.
