An opportunity for a Mowershop Fitter has arisen within the Parks Landscape and Street Scene service based at Hardshaw Brook depot.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the inspection, repair, maintenance and servicing of Grounds Maintenance vehicles, plant and machinery.

You should be able to demonstrate a good practical knowledge of the types of machinery used in the horticultural and grounds maintenance industry and Construction and Use Regulations. You should also have the ability and experience to inspect and repair items of plant and machinery used in the Grounds Maintenance industry, including ride-on mowers, pedestrian mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, woodchippers etc

Duties will include the direct day-to-day maintenance and servicing of equipment to ensure that the services of the section are performed in an efficient and effective manner. You will be expected to operate a small plant and tool store, completing appropriate documentation relating to equipment issue and return.

The post holder will also be able to prepare quotes for inspections, repairs and maintenance and manage stock accordingly.

Applicants must hold at least City & Guilds/NVQ level 3 in motor vehicle maintenance (or equivalent) and have previous experience in engineering.
Applicants must also be prepared to continue to gain further qualifications in machine operations and welding.

A full driving licence is essential - minimum of category B.

You will be paid for 37 hours per week. The hours of work are 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 4:00pm Friday during the summer months on a rotational basis between three staff, and 7:30am to 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 3:00pm Friday in the winter months. The addition hours worked in the summer months are claimed as accrued leave to be taken during the winter months.
