We require a number of Supported Living Workers who are able to offer intimate personal care to male / female Service Users who require hoists for client handling. It would be an advantage to hold a current valid driving licence and be competent in driving service user mobility vehicles to safely transport our Service Users to activities and appointments.

Supported Living is a provider that enables and supports adults with learning disabilities, some of whom have complex needs. Some of our service user group may experience problems in managing their complex behaviour, therefore the Supported Living Service adopts a multi-agency approach, to help promote positive behaviour management, in the safest, ethical and most appropriate way possible. The client group we support is extremely diverse, some service users require minimal care and support whilst some service users require intensive support due to their level of learning disability and/or physical disabilities.

Our overall aim and ethos is to promote service users to lead positive fulfilling lives, and also to promote independence, social inclusion, choice and overall control of their own lives. As a supported living worker you will help tenants achieve a full and rewarding life as possible. This will include developing and promoting their independence in a person centred way. The principle duties of the posts are to provide support and/or direct personal care to include carrying out moving and handling tasks, supporting service users to manage their behaviour by following risk assessments and risk management strategies, whilst maintaining and promoting the independence of the tenants at all times.

This role will involve working from person centred support plans, risk assessments and the promotion of person centred planning. Supported Living Workers will also be expected to follow safeguarding of vulnerable adults procedures and attend regular training.

The duties of the posts will require sleep in duties, waking nights and flexible working patterns which will involve working weekends and bank holidays as required by the needs of the service.

Applicants must have some experience of working with adults or children with a learning disability, and ideally possess an NVQ level 2 in Social Care or equivalent and be willing to undertake all essential training to meet the Care Quality Commission Standards for the service.
