Description...

This is a new post within St Helens Council's Catering service and we are looking for someone with the skills to expand the current School Meals service into new areas of food development and service provision, from a proactive and visible aspect.

You will work at locations throughout the Borough to include Primary, High and Additional needs Schools. You will be advising and supporting Cooks on methods to increase their customer base, by developing and teaching them new skills in the art of cooking and food presentation.

You should have experience of managing a diverse work group, have been responsible for successfully working within budget constraints and have the ability to develop new and creative menus in line with current Government School Food Standards.

You must possess the following:

-City & Guilds or NVQ (equivalent to level 3/4) in the catering field
-Intermediate or Advanced Food Hygiene certificate
-Recognised general management qualification or culinary/hospitality management degree or -culinary/hospitality management experience (minimum of 2 yrs)

The post holder will be expected to provide food demonstrations to pupils and their parents in schools and will be responsible for promoting the School Meals service in a positive light.
