Ofsted recently undertook an inspection of St Helens' Children's Social Care Services which resulted in an overall judgement of requires improvement. The Council is seeking to build on this result and has recently enhanced its senior management team in Children's Services through the creation of an Assistant Director Safeguarding post.
The post will lead on the continued development of child safeguarding arrangements, with direct oversight of the Safeguarding Unit along with a range of Service Teams including Adoption, Fostering, Children with Disabilities, a Children's home and a short stay respite unit.
The successful applicant will have a proven record of management and leadership within a social care context and contribute to the leadership of Children's Services, in accordance with the Council's strategic vision for children and young people.
Applicants must be social work qualified and registered with the HCPC.
