St Helens Council provides equipped play areas in Parks and Schools throughout the borough, it is essential for this play equipment to be maintained to a high standard to enable children to play safely.

An opportunity for an Amenity Officer has arisen within the Parks Landscape and Street Scene service based at Hardshaw Brook depot.
The successful candidate will be part of a small team responsible for the inspection, repair and maintenance of the play equipment.

Duties will include inspection and repair of outdoor furniture in parks, open spaces and schools, maintaining accurate records of all inspections, repairs and maintenance.
The post holder will also be able to prepare quotes for inspections, repairs and maintenance and manage stock accordingly.

Applicants must hold at least NVQ level 3 in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent and have previous experience in engineering.

Applicants must also be prepared to continue to gain further qualifications in playground inspection, machine operations and welding.

A full driving licence is essential - minimum of category B.

Hours of work are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4:00pm Friday.
