Title:
PERMISSION TO GRANT HIRE OF LAND TO INDEMAND FOR REMINISCE FESTIVAL 2020
Summary of Decision:
PERMISSION TO GRANT HIRE OF LAND TO INDEMAND FOR REMINISCE FESTIVAL 2020
Proposed Decision:
That permission is granted to In Demand Ltd to host the Reminisce Festival 2020. The Festival has taken place in Sherdley Park since 2014 and has grown into an event of regional signficiance with over 18,000 visitors. In 2020 the organisers have requested the event move to a two day format. Day 1 would be a family based event and Day 2 would be the Reminisce Festival. It is anticipated that the two events would be marketed separately to their different audiences. In terms of visitor and regional profile the event is now well established in the festival calendar and advance ticket sales will start late in 2019. It is a high profile, well known event which has made its home in St Helens which will provide long term benefits to the visitor economy.
Summary of Reason for Decision:
The event generates £15,000 in revenue for the hire of land payable by In Demand. Additional revenue is generated from the set licence fees, ground repairs and the clear support given to the local economy by use of local services.
Reason for Decision:
The event is governed by an extremely robust licence and the organisers always adhere to their licence conditions which are varied each year to match the style and make up of the event.
Risks Associated with this Decision:
If the event is not granted permission to use the land then there is no other suitable venue within St Helens and the event will move to a different part of the region. This would not be beneficial to St Helens in terms of visitor profile, local economy benefits and council revenue.
Measures to Redress Risk:
If any concerns are noted with the event then they should be channelled through the Events Manager and Licensing Manager who have powers to influence the structure of the event.
