Title:
Residential and Nursing Care Fees 2020/21
Summary of Decision:
To approve the uplift on fees for Residential and Nursing Care for 2020/21
Proposed Decision:
To approve the uplift on fees for Residential and Nursing Care for 2020/21
Summary of Reason for Decision:
To set fees which meet the cost of care in 2020/21
Reason for Decision:
To reflect known inflationary and other regulatory cost pressures to ensure that the fees for 2020/21 meet the cost of care and the Council continues to pay a Fair Price for care.
Risks Associated with this Decision:
Although the Council was successful in defending a recent Judicial Review brought by 2 Care Homes, there remains a small cohort of homes who continue to challenge the Council’s approach. There is a risk that some providers may be so financially affected that it may result in provider failure.
Measures to Redress Risk:
The Council will continue to work closely with social care providers individually and collectively through established forums. A provider failure within St Helens is a very rare occurrence and where a provider has closed for whatever reason the Council has worked proactively with the Care home, and with all the residents and their families to ensure as much as possible that there is a seamless transition to alternative providers.
Anti Poverty / Human Rights / Agenda 21 Implications:
