To approve the revised Flexible Working Arrangements Guide
Proposed Decision:
Approve the revised Flexible Working Arrangements Guide for implementation across the Council.
Summary of Reason for Decision:
Revision provides an updated policy reflecting current practice and legislative requirements.
Reason for Decision:
The current Flexible Working Arrangements Guide required revision and update to reflect both legislative changes in terms of employment law and practice changes in terms of how flexible working applications are managed within the Council. In addition, an update was needed to increase the amount of unpaid parental leave eligible employees may request, to bring the policy in line with current legal provisions. This policy has been subject to Trade Union consultation and there have been no major objections to its content given that representatives recognise the legislation that exists.
Risks Associated with this Decision:
The Council's current policy requires review and failure to agree an updated policy could result in criticism should the Council be subject to employment tribunal claims.

Adopt the policy ensuring that this reflects HR best practice.
