Title:
Market Fees and Charges 2020/2021
Summary of Decision:
To approve the proposed fees and charges for 2020/2021
Proposed Decision:
To approve the fees and charges for 2020/21 and for them to remain the same as 2019/20 apart from additional charges in relation to ancillary and Rival Markets.
Summary of Reason for Decision:
The current level of fees and charges are considered to be reflective of the market for this current financial year.
Reason for Decision:
The decision to maintain the current fees and charges for the primary markets at St Mary's and Earlestown has been made because of the following factors:- occupancy is stable and needs to be protected to minimise the risk of losing traders at both markets. Retail spending in general is under pressure and many market traders are accordingly feeling the financial challenges too. In assessing the level of fees and charges it is noted that the current position is comparable to other markets in the region. Also as part of the Councils plans for regeneration of the town centre it is likely to include St Mary’s Market being subject to relocation in the near future. Earlestown market remains stable in a competitive environment and is also key element to future plans for the regeneration of Earlestown.
