Title:
Review of Fees and Charges 2014 - Parking Services Off-Street Parking
Summary of Decision:
To hold fees and charges on Council car parks at the current level.
Proposed Decision:
That the current 2013/14 level of fees and charges on the Council operated off-street car parks should not be increased for 2014/15 as part of the Council's annual review of fees and charges.
Summary of Reason for Decision:
Promotion of the use of the town centre.
Reason for Decision:
Town centre retailers continue to face harsh trading conditions because of the economic climate. The Council has gone to great lengths to promote the use of the town centre and it is considered that increasing the level of parking charges at this time would result in the town centre being perceived as a less attractive place to both work and visit.
Risks Associated with this Decision:
The 2.5% increase in fee income included in the 2014/15 budget will not accrue if fees and charges are not increased by a corresponding amount.
Measures to Redress Risk:
Monitor usage and income, any adverse variation between income and budget will be addressed during the year in order that the financial implications are contained within the budget.
Anti Poverty / Human Rights / Agenda 21 Implications:
None
