Title:
To permanently expand Longton Lane Primary School intake to 45 places for Longton Lane from September 2018 onwards.
Summary of Decision:
To approve the permanent expansion of Longton Lane Primary School
Proposed Decision:
To formally approve the expansion of Longton Lane Primary School to a PAN of 45 from September 2018 (was previously 30).
Summary of Reason for Decision:
To fulfil duty under Section 14 of the Education Act 1996.
Reason for Decision:
The Local Authority is required, under Section 14 of the Education Act 1996 and the School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations Maintained Schools)(England) Regulations 2013, to follow the statutory school organisation process for expansion. As the proposed prermanent expansions at these schools will eventually increase the capacity of the school by 25% or more, a Statutory Notice and Proposal must be published followed by a Representation (formal consultation) period of 4 weeks. This has now been completed with no objections received. The consultation was published in the local press, on the school's web site and newsletter, and notices were posted at all entrances to the school, as well as on the school notice board. An open afternoon was held for parents to visit and ask questions or express their concerns. No representations were recieved.
