To appoint Balfour Beatty, through the SCAPE Framework, to undertake detailed underground site investigations at A580 Windle Island at an estimated total cost of £148,975.71
Summary of Reason for Decision:
Below ground investigatory works must be carried out to progress scheme design and refine estimated cost of construction.
Reason for Decision:
The A570 / A580 Windle Island Junction Improvement was approved through Delegated Executive Decision 0218 2015/16. Design work on the scheme has progressed over the last four months and cost estimates for the construction works have been prepared. The development of the scheme is at a stage where detailed investigatory works must be undertaken at the junction so that the design of the scheme can be refined, enabling a more robust cost estimate of the scheme to be prepared.

Measures to Redress Risk:
The contractor supervising the works will comply with Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and will produce method statements and a Health and safety Plan for the works. The Traffic Management sub-contractor appointed by the main contractor will also have to demonstrate competence and adherence to Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual
