Provides an additional 298 large trees and supports Year of Action of the Environment
Reason for Decision:
Provides an additional 298 large trees across 12 different open space sites and parks across the Borough and supports Year of Action of the Environment. Also supports Climate Emergency mitigation.
Risks Associated with this Decision:
Match funding may be lower than 50%
Measures to Redress Risk:
50% match funding is for the combined bid. There is some leeway built in to address this.
Anti Poverty / Human Rights / Agenda 21 Implications:
Urban trees offer a range of benefits, including temperature moderation, flood risk mitigation, and improved wellbeing – particularly when in close proximity to large populations. The UTCF will contribute to delivering these benefits through the targeted planting of large and small trees in urban and peri-urban areas.
