St Helens Youth Service is looking to recruit a part time Youth Engagement Officer to work in partnership with young people aged 11 – 18 years who have been identified as requiring early help.

The Youth Engagement Officer will work in partnership with other professionals and agencies to ensure that young people are receiving the help and support they require. The Youth Engagement Officer's role will be to help young people to identify their own goals and provide interventions which encourage their personal and social development, help them to overcome specific difficulties and make a positive change, either through one to one support or group work.

The successful Youth Engagement Officer will also be required to deliver group work within schools aimed at years 6 and 7 on a range of issues that affect young people today. They will also be required to occasionally work as part of a detached team of youth workers, who will work with young people on the streets within the borough.

Interested candidates should have a clear understanding of Early Intervention and Targeted Youth Work. Candidates also need to have good knowledge of issues that affect young people both locally and nationally, including child exploitation and different ways in which to help a young person address specific issues.
